Probably, and keep in mind many of the first settlers were such religious nutters they were kicked out of england.

The Catholic Church has not lost power. It is, far and away, the largest and most influential Christian religoin in the Western World.

Yes, of course there would be many offshoots. The Catholic Church is but One Church. The other Christian denominations divide and divide and divide unto the 33,000 denominations, and counting, we have today.
The USA doesn't have a national religion. We are a secular nation.
There might be parts of our culture and even some of the values in the Constitution were inspired by Christianity, but the founders of our nation did not want to infringe upon every person's right to worship, or not worship, as they saw fit. So long as it doesn't harm others.
There would be no difference, because, they are all based on the same book, with different interpretations.
