Well it's a common misconception that evolution attempts to explain the origin of life. The origin (from the primordial ooze and so forth) is the abiogenesis hypothesis and something separate. Christians like to try and merge the two to make evolution seem weaker than it really is (a fallacy of extension). Evolution is really an observation of how species change and come about over time. It was "Origin of the Species" and never "Origin of Life" even Darwin said he had no clue how life started.

Most christians do accept evolution as the biological fact that it is (though American christians are still way behind - even the pope acknowledged evolution is true, get with the times people!) as it really doesn't interfere too badly with the bible as taken symbolically.

I am an atheist but can appreciate the christians who actually take the time to learn about what evolution is and does - indeed all the educated christians who understand the concepts of evolution accept it. The two don't necessarily have to be mutual exclusive.

But there are still some who are too dumb to even know what evolution is and they cling to ridiculous fake arguments and total ignorance to argue against it. When you hear someone say "we evolved from monkeys (1)" "evolution is just a theory (2))" "it's random chance (3)" and so on, you're dealing with someone who knows nothing of the subject.

Why would I flame you? Your perception of lots of Christians are bad, I'm sorry you have been flamed by some "Christians" in the past but I won't do that =) So there are many people who do wrong things that they believe to be right. That was how it was for the Christians and the Native Americans. The Christians of that time didn't really have to knowledge or understanding as we did. Also, keep in mind that the laws of society and right vs. wrong was very very different from it is now. I am ashamed of my ancestors for doing that to the Native Americans. First evolution means that one being is changing to a complete other being. There is no proof of that in modern times. There is proof that a species adapts different characteristics in order to survive. This is called adaptation and most Christians do not dispute adaptation. Both sides are closed minded to other's beliefs, that will never change. Scientific "evidence" has never pointed me in another direction. I have studied and taken the same classes as you have, but I still see no evidence. With the Begotten subject, that is something that no human can ever wrap their brains around. It is the same in that humans can not imagine that space goes on and on and on and has no end. However, people do not dispute that. Well for one the Bible could not possibly have been written by one man at one time. Studies have shown that the bible is different books that range over years and years of time, yet the story remains the same. The only answer I have for your questions in this paragraph is: Faith. You either have it or you don't and I just do. It's as simple as that. I hope I helped. =)

The problem comes from the fact that the Christian youth spend way more time in school than in church and the leaders of the church are trying to encourage people to come so they don't want to step on toes. And the legal battles that started to teach evolution as another option, have evolved into giving evolution as fact and now we can't even mention creation. So Christians have become confused about what is true. They look for ways for the worldly answers to be true and God to be true. They add imaginary verses to the bible, twist Gods Word and try to sound like they fit in. As Christians we are not meant to fit in with society. We are meant to stand out. We are meant to be the voice in the wilderness declaring the truth of Gods Word.

And because we are not training and teaching our youth correctly a large percentage lose their faith when they go away to college. We need to teach them the truth of the bible and back it up with science. We need to give them arguments to refute the information we are given in school. We need to show them how many times science has been proven wrong or changed their opinion or thrown out test results as faulty because it didn't come back with the answers they expected. There are those who are working on it. I am taking an apologetics class at my church

Only for the time being. As today's youth gain the knowledge that schools are teaching about evolution they will begin to see the fallacy of Geneses and begin to reject the bible all together and either find another religion or become Atheists.

Well, it kind of is in concept, so maybe it shouldn't be taught in school w/out offering an opposing viewpoint.

Why do kids have to be taught the origin of life in school anyway? They can research it on the internet if they want to and there wouldn't be any more controversy about it.

For the record. There is a big difference b/t microevolution and macroevolution. The ending evolution causes the confusion.

Your first statement is false most Christians believe in Creation. Most atheists believe in Evolution.

Evolution has NOTHING to do with the BEGINGS of life. Evolution starts AFTER life begins.

The process of BEGININGS of life is basically biology.
