Christians say that science suggests that the universe is the result of a cosmic ‘accident,’ all life including humans is the result of an ‘accident’ and evolution is a process of ‘accidents.’ Obviously they’re motivated to use less than honest adjectives in their arguments which is why they use the word ‘accident’ so often in an attempt to appear cynical and intellectual, but what are they really saying? Are they saying that any explanation without an invisible god is a ‘cosmic accident’? Does the use of the word ‘random’ put them off and make them immediately picture chaos?

"what are they really saying?"
They're iggerant.
ALL of the evidence points to evolution.
NONE points to an imaginary psychopath in space suffering cerebral palsy, uncontrollably waving his arms about, creatin' stuff outa nothin' for no discernable reason.

Does anyone find it ironic that the man who came theorized the big bang was a Catholic priest working with the Vatican? Monsignor Georges Henri Joseph Édouard Lemaître came up the with the big bang. Both the big bang and evolution are endoresed by the church since neither one is contradictory to the Church's teachings of God and Spirtuality.
by its very nature science has to explain phenomena without a God as phenomena are of a mathematical nature.
For example if you said the equation d2phi/dt= k(phi) described the big bang you couldn't say the nature of the constant k was God. In a maths sense quantum mechanics states an event can come before a cause simply because it is possible
The Catholic Church(the largest Christian religion) agrees with evolution. Now it's just all the other churches that are wrong.
"According to the widely accepted scientific account, the universe erupted 15 billion years ago in an explosion called the 'Big Bang' and has been expanding and cooling ever since. Later there gradually emerged the conditions necessary for the formation of atoms, still later the condensation of galaxies and stars, and about 10 billion years later the formation of planets. In our own solar system and on earth (formed about 4.5 billion years ago), the conditions have been favorable to the emergence of life. While there is little consensus among scientists about how the origin of this first microscopic life is to be explained, there is general agreement among them that the first organism dwelt on this planet about 3.5 - 4 billion years ago. Since it has been demonstrated that all living organisms on earth are genetically related, it is virtually certain that all living organisms have descended from this first organism. Converging evidence from many studies in the physical and biological sciences furnishes mounting support for some theory of evolution to account for the development and diversification of life on earth, while controversy continues over the pace and mechanisms of evolution.
nooo...
I don't use the word accident to describe how the universe came to be. But saying that the universe "randomly happened one day" isn't any more flattering than describing it as a cosmic accident. It still just doesn't add up to me.
Random means a pattern can't be found. So when science says that evolution is random, the result is an unpredictable "accident" And if evolution can be tested with predicted results, then it isn't random and science is wrong.
That shows their ignorance. In fact the big bang is the opposite of an accident. It is a normal occurrence in the Multi-verse; the universes that have always existed. God did not do it.
They are saying that big bang and evolution involve random chance not an underlying deliberate direction or directive action on the part of anything else.
I enjoy chaos. Chaos is a forest floor miles from any pavement. Chaos is where life happens while you are trying to fit it in the box (or the book). Chaos is my garden... and No, I have not been banned from it like the Book Thumpers would have you believe. Chaos breathes the breath of life.
It is not an accident that you are here. He knew you before you were born. God Bless You Dersiee
