The desire for wealth is one of the main contributors to why this world is pretty much doomed. Fossil fuel companies want us to keep burning fossil fuels and consuming energy; they even want us to increase our consumption because it means more profit for them. These companies have no motive to scale back consumption within society yet scaling back energy consumption is what we all must do if we want a world for our children and grandchildren to live in. So let’s replace money with a ‘feel good’ device. This feel good device would be the driving force that makes people get out of bed in the morning. We can say to them, “Do your job well and you can spend 10 minutes on the ‘feel good’ device. Do your job poorly and no ‘feel good’ device for you.” But would Christians oppose such a device because it will be better than sex?

Sounds like a kinky sci-fi movie - but no, I don't think that would work. Besides without money, there's no economy and without economy, there's a a lot of bored m-f'ers with nothing to do but start running amok through the countryside...
Im a atheist and i appose this.
FIrst off we still need to use fossil fuels because we have no other viable alternative yet. Solar energy is inefficient and can only take a little load off. Hydro electricity can only be installed at some dams. Nuclear fission produces harmful radioactive waste and there is only enough uranium left on the planet for another decades use. We only have fossil fuels at the moment to reach the power requirements that we need at present day.
For your feel good device i appose it. It sounds exactly like drugs that create the chemicals in your brain that associate with your 'reward center of the brain'. This will cause addictions for sure. Money and wealth is important for a society. Its a main reason why the romans where so successful.
But it was a good idea but is full of many holes. Thanks for the brain work out.
This "feel-good device" would be hoarded by wealthy people as soon as it was invented, and used as an addictive mental stimulant to make the laborers work harder, longer hours. Like a rat on cocaine, people would keep coming back for another fix. Eventually what you would have are a lot of pleasure addicted zombies with no real motivation to do anything but get their next hit. Denial of their obsession would cause a lot of suicides. An easy way to get rid of the deadwood. Rod Serling would have loved this one.
maybe they would oppose it because its some sort of device. it isn't natural. god isn't bringing this good feeling....... otherwise it sound pretty cool, although you can't replace that with money. so if you need to get groceries, do u just use a feel good device and no one eats lol unless you soley mean the pleasure of money.
They say it's wrong to "feel good" by initiating immoral sex, but a "feel good" device would contradict that theory. Therefore proving them wrong in the process
Happiness is over rated! having peace of mind is truly the most pleasurable thing a person can achieve. Know why you are sad or happy, discontent or content, etc. is by far more desired.
That's like Nozick's pleasure machine!
It would be wrong to stimulate good feelings with no ontological good behind it.
In fact, it would be unsatisfying, because it would be empty.

yeah probably considering they oppose drugs
ba, ba, ba.
That is the answer. If you say ba!, you don't care about wealth.
Remember?

Also, if we could create solar panals the size of a book that could provide seemingly clean, unlimited household energy, we wouldn't talk about conservation.
