Why didn’t Luke use the old Jedi mind trick on the Ewoks instead of levitating C3PO?
If you’re going to say, “The old Jedi mind trick can only be used on one mind at a time and there was a whole crowd of Ewoks,” this is not an excuse. He didn’t have to use the old Jedi mind trick on all the Ewoks; he only had to do it on the chief Ewok. The other Ewoks would have obeyed him. So what’s the deal with this; was Luke just showing off his ability to use the force?

Yes, but a rather effective way as well. If you could do things like that, would you? most of us would.
He probably felt more confident in using the force over mind control. He was still learning, right?

Because its a freakin' movie. He already did the hand wave thing to Jabba's guards and it would have been stupid for him to do it again in the same film
