Religious people seem unable to determine good from bad sometimes, like those wacky Muslims who crashed planes into buildings; they thought they were doing good. And those abhorrent Christians who protest outside abortion clinics and kill doctors; they actually think they are doing good. So what’s a simple rule that’s not so complicated that religious can’t understand it and helps them with their difficulties in seeing how their actions are causing harm to their society? Something along the lines of “Four legs good; two legs bad” but obviously not in those specific words…

How about "stop when the screaming starts"?
Maybe it is your own kind messing up the world. It was reported initially that the planes that hit the towers were unoccupied. Flying on auto pilot. Sketches of "would be assailants" then materialized, and soon after actual photos. These people were detained to have had involvement with the muslim plane crashers that you are referring to. They were all let go after months of interrogations and other practices., and it wasn't clear if they were Saddam Hussein's or no wait it had to be al-quida or Osama bin Laden, while showing us the same "so called" message from him over and over again in a language we know nothing about. Christians who kill people should not be called Christians and not all of them are.or were. Maybe you are mixing up a religion with the right to choose, in which case anyone can apply for that. I wish that people who are adamant about what they think they know about other people would get a clue about how things really are. That rule of thumb should apply to all who have nothing better to do than focus on anothers shortcomings.
If only it was that easy.
From my own experience and from other ex-xtians i've talked to, it seems the only thing that makes a xtian finally be able to listen is when they begin to question the rising fear in their lives.
I can't quite explain how I wasn't fully aware that I lived in fear, but I assumed everyone had fears, and I assumed I had jesus to protect me while non-xtians had nothing to protect them at all. After I began researching about xtianity, I realized fear was created by my xtian beliefs.
In a spiritual sense, the Jewish scriptures describe that people in false religions live in fear, and that God gives them that fear in order to correct them but they continue being even more stubborn in their beliefs (following after their stubborn hearts).
I really think each person has to make that connection and realization on their own. I don't know if anyone can say anything to a xtian until they are sick of the fear and the fear outweighs their stubbornness.
attacking their jesus or their god makes them even more stubborn, but attack their demons and they may listen.
It is not fair to accuse a whole society for the wrongdoings of a few radicals. Wherever you go, you will find those "beyond the fringe" and that as a result of their life experience. Perhaps if we improved the life experience of everyone, we would not be faced with this. Be well.
Those Atheists that think whatever pleases them is ok, and have torn at the fabric of society (such as the family), and are hateful of other's beliefs.
If your eyes were open, you could see that life without consideration of God says to us does the most harm to society, and ultimately to the one without faith in God.
A few messed-up Christians do awful things like you mentioned (and chose to focus on), but the majority believe in protecting unborn life in respectful ways, and doing practical things to help people.
The church does more good around the world to help people than any other organization... not even close.
What have you done to help people?
I'd protest outside an abortion clinic... like handing out pamphlets and stuff (unbiased, duh) I don't see how informing people of the facts is harming society.
I'm not stupid, I have a really high IQ! But wth does "four legs good two legs bad" mean?
And those atheists who thought they were doing good in WWI and WWII.
So what’s a simple rule that’s not so complicated that atheists can’t understand it and helps them with their difficulties in seeing how their actions are causing harm to their society...?
Perhaps unwarranted/unjustified belief in general should no longer be considered a virtue.
To right we harm worldy society
"If you're thinking about physically injuring or killing somebody -- heck, if you're even thinking about stopping others from doing things that cause neither you nor anybody else harm -- STOP! YOU'RE GOING TOO FAR!"
You are beating a dead horse. We will not see this in our time. Not now, not ever.
