Mythical is the default state for religious stuff until evidence is provided that it is not mythical, right? Just like the Christian god is an imaginary entity until Christians provide evidence that it’s not imaginary, right? I mean, if we let Christians talk about their god concept as though it is real despite a complete lack of evidence then where will it end? Any crackpot group of lunatics could make up some nonsense and call it religion and no one could stop them but if we make a stand now and say, “Your god is not real if you have no evidence,” then will future generations appreciate the sacrifice we made?

It has already been proved 'mythical'....building on every myth that preceded it. The Christian Messiah invented by Paul was no different than any of the 50 or more dying and resurrected saviors who preceded him. And the Old Testament god was nothing more than a continuance of the Male God Myth invented by the societies that preceded Ancient Israel....an attempt to destroy worship of the original deity...the Goddess. The prevalence of 'myth' is the backbone of religion.

You really DO need to actualy read the bible...NOWHERE is the earth described as a sphere!!! It is described as a "CIRCLE" and a circle can only be described on a FLAT surface. A sphere does not have four corners..and the bible speaks of the FOUR CORNERS of the earth. The bible also speaks of the firmament as a tent pegged into the earth...you cannot peg a tent on a sphere. Also the New Testament speaks of Christ being able to see ALL THE KINGDOMS of the earth from the top of the mountain where he was carried by 'Satan'; that could ONLY be possible with a FLAT earth.
And Psalms seals the case for unscientific bible babble when it speaks of the earth being fixed, unmovable on its foundations. That is geocentrism, and it is directly contradicted by heliocentrism.
Ditto for Marine Wife:
Not only have I READ the bible, but have spent the last 40 years in intense study of it's history, possible authors, and mythical connections. I suggest YOU do the same.
Have you read the Bible through? I strongly encourage you to do so...because the Bible, in fact, does provide evidence. So many non-believers choose NOT to accept the evidence given to them. Many non-believers who put down Christianity have not read the Bible themselves. The question is just stating that God is not real, and that Christians have no evidence. Where are the examples? Better answers can be given to you if you state what is not explained, and what you don't understand. I'd love to help you if you want to know. I am unsure if you are seeking true answers, or if your mind is made up and who are just criticizing. Honestly, I am a Christian woman. My faith is unshakable, no matter what anyone says...BUT i do not look down about non-believers. God says love the sinner, hate the sin. I don't believe Christians should judge non-believers or those of other religions. Instead, pray for them and help answer any questions that we can to help bring them to God. God bless, and if you have any questions, just write to me. Have a good day.
Hopefully this would open people's minds a bit more when they know their belief is unproven and in the same class as all other religions. Rollo, why should we put effort into trying to show evidence of no god when religious people are the ones telling us, without proof, what life is all about?
Even myth and superstition is grounded in some sort of of truth. The Computer did not exist either until someone took the thought and put it to use. People believed the earth was flat, even though the bible says it's a sphere before the technology existed. How about sound and light? How was that in the Bible Before the Technology and Orion before it was discovered in the night sky. Something or somebody inspired them to that knowledge. God has to be real in you and just because you don't recognize Him does not make Him any less real or fictional.
Yes, to the mythical thing.
But to the stand thing
No, because then everyone who does have a religion will say, "No our God is real" But without faith you won't get it or see anything. Besides, religion has been around since the dawn of human it's just our nature. I would imagine that there was also a group who didn't believe in anything either.
Heck, we're as right as you are..since no one has died and we can't really test it with science we can't prove or disprove anything.
All we know is that we WILL and DO all die.
Myth is conventionally defined as a sacred narrative explaining how the world and humankind came to be in their present form. Therefore all religious explanations, including the one in Genesis, are myths. The difference between myth and religion is that "religion" is generally what the person who's doing the defining believes in. Their belief is Religion; all else is myth. Religion basically means they have no evidence. If they did, it would be science.
First of all, there are TONS of religions, so it's not just Christians who have faith in a being that can't be seen. And it's FAITH...meaning you don't have to have proof. That's kind of the whole point. Why get worked up with what we believe and try to "stand now and say 'your God is not real'"? Just mind you own business and let us be.
God bless you.
Here are the steps:
1. Belief asserted.
2. Evidence provided.
3. Evidence scrutinized.
4. Evidence criticized.
5. Evidence accepted or denied.
It's the same for every asserted belief.
Sacrifice? What sacrifice? Ah, let's see, by the grace of God you were saved and then filled with the Holy Spirit as a gift for guidance and direction. And, given the fruits of the Spirit of joy and love. Wow, would not call that a sacrifice. My oh my, how the self pity sets in to those who idolize themselves.........my oh my.
Yup. Demand evidence.
Bouncer Bobtail. The Big Bang? Go look up "galactic redshift," "cosmic microwave background," and "Edwin Hubble." For the evidence of the Big Bang.
