Have you noticed that on almost every Daily Show, Jon Stewart makes a reference about being Jewish? What’s the deal with that? I mean, I don’t expect Jews to be ashamed of their ethnicity and I don’t expect Jews to hide in the shadows, but pointing out so often that he’s not one of us, he’s one of them, seems a little odd, don’t you think so?

The only sort of person who would notice such a thing is the kind who divides people into "us" and "them".
I t is not antisemitic to question, establishing a conscious conclusion that there is such a thing as Us and Them may border on antisemitism shall I put it down to poor phrasing? Usually it seems that Jon Stewart is engaging in some bit of self-mockery in many of his references to his own ethnicity, really doing his best to de-fuse the concept of Us and Them. At least that's my impression.
i did no longer watch the Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz ComedyPalooza 2010 rally at present wanna comprehend why? reason Liberals instructed me he's "purely a comedian" and that this is COMEDY TIME! I had greater substantial issues to do...
How is being jewish pointing out that he's not one of you? It sure sounds like you think he should be ashamed. People's ethnicity and religion are a huge part of who they are. It tends to be very relevant very often to many of the topics of discussion. Yes, you do sound antisemitic. Do you also complain when black comedians make black jokes or otherwise talk about their ethnicity? Are they also pointing out to you that they're not one of you?
It's part of the whole mind game that the Daily Show plays on us. I used to watch that show religiously (it's on the internet) but I quit. I got tired of how the Daily Show always portrays this skewed liberal thing and then people buy into it and it's all just big lie. My favorite episode was the one where Jon is forced to try to put the cowardice of Comedy Central into perspective while continuing the 'walk on egg shell' game that the Daily Show is all about. What am I talking about ? Comedy Central wouldn't show Mohammed (on a South Park episode) b/c some terrorists threatened them over the internet. I just get tired of the whole 'everything Muslims do is to be put into the best possible light while it's more than OK to rip on any other religion and on America' routine. So Jon is basically saying "I'm Jewish so if you don't agree with me it's b/c you're a Nazi (but now I'm going to help Islam take over the world so it can kill all Jews and if you have a problem with all Jews being killed then... you're a Nazi)."
No, not really. The USA has a long tradition of Jewish comedians who are often referring to their Jewishness.
For some it will be, for others it will not be. Anti-semitism lives in a person's heart.
So, this will depend upon one's motive for asking.
It's not anti-Semitic to ask that, but I watch JS all the time and rarely notice him mentioning his Jewishness.
"he's not one of us'??? "He's one of them"??? Us and them, huh? So if Jon Stewart talks about being Jewish, that means he's "pointing out so often that he's not one of us". You put thoughts in his head that are yours alone.
*cough* christians tell others they're christians.... so what's the difference?
does it matter? let me answer that. NO
jon stewart is proud to be jewish, so what? hes not different, chill out
