Why just Christians? Because Christians typically live in more technologically advanced countries with greater access to modern science and modern sources of knowledge. Therefore, being a Christian and retaining belief in primitive, dogmatic, absurd religious concepts is a greater act of denial and self deprivation than being a Muslim living in countries that are still in a Middle Ages era of human society. So it’s kind of a form of self mutilation, right, but not physical mutilation?

Nah you got it all wrong sweety. I myself am A christian and I am always happy! There is no reason to worry when you know God is on your side. So yeah I don't get sad or angry as much because there is simply no reason for it! :) Like I said before, not all Christians have the same ideal way of living. Its not like we are Amish we still do regular stuff but we don't hate, lie, or fight. Just be peaceful and love one another! Get to know different types of Christianity maybe you will learn something. Being a Christian is fun but you haven't been exposed to Christianity as much as me so I understand why.
Peace ;)
i am a Christian, and i'm telling you, if i was not then i would be emo. going to church and being supported by all my friends that love me helps me get through all the hard stuff. plus it's totally fun. i go to youth group pretty much every weds. and it's just these 2 hours of fun and hanging out w/ friends to give you a break from life for a little while. so however you got thinking that Christianity is like some sort of weak spot or something... no, you have no idea what u r missing out on. you should try going!!!!
You're not very well informed, are you? It's very easy to make baseless assertions on an anonymous form.
Let's start you out with a simple assignment. Read Antony Flew's book "There Is a God: How the World's Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind"
In the interest of disclosure, Antony, as far as I know, is not a Christian, but he has reversed his decades long position of atheism to now being a theist.
If you can handle it, more assignments will follow. But the prediction is you won't bother. People don't like to be shown how idiotic their statements can be.
Too many overgeneralizations. Europe is hardly still in the middle ages...and within the next 20 to 30 years, Muslims will be the majority in many European countries. ...and most of Latin America is Christian. More importantly, Christianity itself does NOT reward following primitive or absurd religious concepts.
I will concede that many religions built on the message of Christ do represent a form of intellectual self-mutilation...they do demand that a person disconnect their brain and simply accept what another person tells them to believe and do. However, this is NOT consistent with the message of Christ. On more than one occasion, he told his followers to seek God with all their heart, MIND, soul and body...and he repeatedly warned them about the dangers of trusting what another person says about him without first judging that person's worthiness. Heck, he basically told people that listening to the advice of the most learned people available on the subject of God (the pharisees) was a surefire way to be judged unworthy by God!
Yes, too many Christians do take the "easy way"...they find someone they trust and then they believe what that person tells them about God and about Jesus...but they never actually take the time to ask God what HE thinks...they equate questioning their human teacher with "questioning God"...and their human teacher has no doubt told them that questioning God is wrong (a sin, indicates weak faith, etc...). It makes me sad, but it isn't surprising...Jesus did say that MANY people would misrepresent him...that MANY false prophets would lead them away from the path he laid out...it's just too bad that you trusted people who were so obviously lying to you about the message in the bible.
I an a muslim living in the united states not in a primitive society. i am a slave of GOD not of materialism like the rest modern society!
being a Christian doesn't hurt me, so no. But no matter how much Science you know you can't disprove religion.
I am emo though, so I'll give you that...
maybe ya know .. i do find myself indulging in a thought every now and then though ... emo, i could maybe go with that .. im emotionally challenged and medicate myself sometimes and love playing with razors and fire ..
When you get a clue as to what you are trying to find out, rephrase the question
You don't have to involve yourself in science to help the world...
and you ...what ever your religion is or isn't call them hypocrites...please this is shock entertainment here and howard stern isn't even this viscous
