Do religious people have a very loose definition of ‘doing good’?

I mean, those wacky Muslims who crashed those planes into the buildings thought they were doing good, right? The Christians during the Middle Ages who burned people at the stake thought they were doing good, right? Clearly, these actions are not ‘doing good’ at all but are in fact doing bad, very, very bad. So if people can so casually misinterpret ‘doing good’ then is their judgment to be trusted at all?
