It’s quite clear that the constitution tells us that the government cannot make laws about where people can and can’t build religious buildings. Do American Christians want to change this? Do they want it to say, “Only Christian religious buildings can be built on US soil” or something like that? Or maybe they want to add an amendment that has specific instructions about Islam? Something like, “Islam is a different religion and Islam is responsible for causing great harm to the USA, therefore, Islam is not welcome on US soil”?

This is a sensitive issues, Radical islam had just blown down the prestigious WTC towers and inflicted the most tragic loss on American soil - the 9/11 attack, and cause thousands of innocent american life, and now would like to build a mosque near the site. If you look at the history of Islam and its conquests, you would see the same pattern in the history that every time Islam defeated a place, a town, a county or a country, then the after effect is they would build mosque/s on the victory ground/s. This is simply to state their victory commemoration, and the start of domination of islam into the place.
Thus by allowing Islam to build on ground zero is the same to acknowledge their victory over America, and the start of islam infiltration into America with the blessing of America's own president.
Many Islam countries might have openly said that they condemned the 9/11 attack, but internally and silently they were rejoicing the attack as heroic acts of Jihad heroes, and let some of their citizens celebrate or even mosque prayers for those jihad or to be precise terrorists, on the 9/11.
Me, Myself & Aye — *aspects* of Texas are extremely bigoted. i'm a liberal (dwelling in Texas) and a few aspects are so extremely-conservative (and infested with KKK individuals) that I carry a hid handgun when I commute with the aid of those aspects. US79 and SR21 are superb shortcuts for determining to purchase throughout the state quickly, yet once you're no longer an extremely-conservative they are no longer quite risk-free. different aspects of Texas are extremely liberal. Austin, the place I stay, is extremely liberal: we are form of the "San Francisco of the South". San Marcos is likewise liberal. Dallas (ideal) has a tendency liberal, extraordinarily in o.ok.backyard and o.ok.Hill, nevertheless the northern suburbs are extremely conservative. aspects of Houston, quite around Montrose, are liberal. returned to the unique query: the form of the State of Texas is a poorly-written albatross which calls for terribly almost non-provide up Constitutional replace just to make ordinary transformations in how the state is controlled. at last, a clean state shape would be written and with a bit of luck people could have greater experience and take out stupid regulations like those. If Obama is elected President and starts appointing liberal proper courtroom judges, i'm confident the anti-gay marriage regulations in states would be overturned at last, and Texas would be led kicking and screaming into the twentieth century on the time something of the country prepares for the twenty 2nd century.
The Republicans who have screamed at the inviolability of the Constitution seem to have no problem screaming about gutting provisions that will score them political points, whether it is the 1st Amendment or the 14th. All they need is a boogeyman, whether it is a scary Muslim community center or "terror babies" or "anchor babies". It's August, the crazy season, and this August has been crazier than most.
I personally don't believe it's an issue. People can have opinions over the matter, but in the end, the people who own that building decide what to build.
well........it is completely legal to build the mosque there. but it is also completely insensitive. the whole country is open to them to build a mosque, but why that specific place? that mosque will make muslims happy but anger christians. if you deny them the mosque then christians will be happy but you will anger muslims. you cant have it both ways. just pick the one that makes more sense. i say build your mosque somewhere else. muslims dont intend to offend christians, but this is just crossing the line. its like if christians go and build a church near mecca or something....its that offensive. to build a place of worship for the god who drove people to do what was done at the twin towers, that is quite offensive . muslims please dont get offended. i am not saying that islam or muslims are like that i am saying that that deed was done in the name of islam. you cant expect people who have lost family and friends because of muslim extremeists to not get mad at what you guys are trying to do.
We were attacked by Al Qaeda, not Islam.
This is not an Al Qaeda community center, so anyone who is whining about insensitivity is just looking for attention.
Yes
You will end up before the human rights board. It is against the law to hurt a person's feelings these days.
It's not a Christian issue. It's a 9/11 issue.
The problem with that is it would make us look just as intolerant as their nation. We shouldn't put ourselves down to that level. The constitution is fine.
