What are the chances, dear Christians, that any one of you would answer as honestly as this?

The chances are Zero because I would be giving a dishonest answer and not an answer based upon evidence.

There is a lot of evidence that God is real and that the Lord Jesus rose from the dead. But if you want to be "wise in your own eyes" you can believe whatever you want.

well that isn't honest, because I don't feel the flying spaghetti monster, I have never recieved comfort from it. So there's less proof...

If my child was like three, (assuming they believe in the flying spaghetti monster) I would just be like... yes, because that's easiest thing to say, and s/he probably wouldn't understand something more complex. If my child was, like, a teenager I would be like

"In some respects, yes, there is no true, concrete evidence for or against god, as with the flying spaghetti monster. But we, or at least I, can feel god, feel a connection to him, and he helps me." If my child asked the question in the first place s/he would probably say something along the lines of "that's crap" in which case I would be like "well if you don't have the same connection to god that I do then I'm sorry about that, because it really is an amazing thing."

I wouldn't answer exactly like that. I'd tell them right away that the flying spaghetti monster was fake because everyone knows that atheists made it up to mess with Christians. I would tell my child that there is no concrete proof of God, but many people still choose to believe.

Think for a minute: this means absolutely nothing. You can't prove the existence of something by pointing to academic writing. Do the Easter Bunny and Harry Potter exist by your logic? Gimme a break.

A really honest answer to this question would be to admit the truth and say, "God is real because Mommy and Daddy prayed to Him and asked Him for a son and He blessed us with you. God is real because when we pray He answers. He is real because He talks to us when we stay quiet and listen. He is real because we have seen Him do wonderful things in our and other people's lives. He is real because we have a relationship with Him. The flying spaghetti monster is make believe just like the tooth fairy and Santa."

Well, no kids yet, but if that were to happen I'd have no problems answering "yes". Assuming there's still no evidence for either, and that both have all the hallmarks of having been thought up by humans for their own reasons.

I would answer that I believe God is real but many do not and some do not know. I would explain I have felt God but it is up to them if they believe in God and it is okay not to know or not to believe or to believe in something else. I also talk regularly about evolution and science to my kids.

I tell my children Satan and Easter Bunny is a lie but God is not a lie or make believe.
