If you have evidence then you can’t also have faith because evidence makes faith obsolete and if you have faith then it means you believe regardless of evidence. This simple logic is so easy for me to understand but it seems religious people have great trouble with it. They think they can have faith and evidence at the same time but I tell you, it’s impossible! It’s one or the other! If you base your beliefs on faith then you have made a decision to ignore evidence requirements and if you claim there is evidence to back up your beliefs, then you have made a decision to rely on evidence and not faith, ok? Understand?

Faith is evidence.
Your problem is you don't know what real faith is, because you don't have any.
When you believe the truth, it joins you to the truth, and then you know the truth.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
You're holding religion up to a standard of logic that it doesn't hold itself up to.
Nancy's response tells you all you need to know about this issue. Religious people believe something, and come up with justifications for holding that belief. One justification is "Faith" - the idea that it is noble to hold a belief based on trust rather than reason or evidence.
Religious apologists come up with more elaborate arguments, that imitate the reasoned argument of philosophers or scientists (though inevitably lack the substance!) That's how we get ideas like the cosmological argument or pseudo-scientific "theories" like Intelligent Design.
What it comes down to is the fact that religions are ideas that propagate themselves to other people. To a certain portion of the population, some Bible stories and an idea like "Faith" are enough to convince. Inevitably there are some people who ask questions - that's when the so-called "evidence" comes in. Either way, they're just tactics to convince people into a following a particular system of belief.
Essentially you're trying to analyse this from a scientific perspective - assuming that people analyse the situation and make a logical conclusion. For religion, it's the other way round - evidence, if it exists, can sometimes be a helpful tool to support the belief.
If god needed us to have confidence by using evidence he would have provided something tangible that could have lasted throughout the time of the centuries. All we've is a mouldy previous e book or randomly accumulated fairy memories and hearsay. it is not evidence of something different than people can write some loopy stuff. @HTacianas there is not any evidence Jesus even lived. The so-referred to as eyewitnesses you consult with by no ability existed. The gospels have been written some a hundred years after Jesus's meant death. they are no longer evidence of something. @Josie that's humorous how those miracles taking place at the instant, as you assert, by no ability look to ensue while somebody independent is around. by no ability any credible witnesses or video of the form. no longer something yet hearsay.
Indeed. Faith is ignorance of what you might call evidence. It is rejection of arguments that might suggest otherwise. Faith is a belief in something that cannot be proven. If you are willing to negotiate your beliefs on a daily basis due to oncoming evidence, then your faith is false. Faith is faith. You stick with it, or you are faithless.
What is wrong with you? Your crazy or something. Why are you trying SO hard to prove us wrong. Thats whats wrong, people like you make Christians look dumb, when your the one trying SO hard to prove us wrong. Why cant we be Christians and you leave us alone? We dont hurt you, so why do you try so hard to hurt us? You will NEVER make me turn my head against God, so face it. Give up. To answer your question, I have FAITH in my God. And I believe that people have such STRONG faith, that that is the evidence. I dont care if you dont believe me. I have faith in my God and I will never let go.
Now will you please answer this for me.... Why do you care SO much to prove us wrong? Whats your problem with us?
A person can have both. Evidence is the ends of faith. Applied to anything else, faith in some thing leading to that thing validates faith. A simple example is some person who believes there is gold in some mountain or another. When he mines for it and finds it, that find does not invalidate his faith that he would, but rather validates it.
Wrong, the Biblical definition of faith is: Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true (Philippians 1:27; 2 Thessalonians 2:13). Its primary idea is trust. A thing is true, and therefore worthy of trust. It admits of many degrees up to full assurance of faith, in accordance with the evidence on which it rests.
To have faith, you must have trust and evidence. Sorry that you didn't attempt to read the Bible.
Desiree:
Do you mean when God parted the Red Sea for Israel, then that physical evidence is not valid in their FAITH that He can give them the promised land?
Likewise, my FAITH is based on tangible evidence, such as God telling the future, and studying history to see how it's all fulfilled. Even the date of Christ's crucifixion fulfilled exactly according to prophecy.
Knowing this, that Christ fulfilled so many prophecies about His first coming and death, then I have tangible FAITH that He'll rescue me off this planet when it self-destructs.
But for those who need a little more evidence, God closed part of the Bible until our time. First, it proves Jesus is the messiah and identifies the Abomination of Desolation He warned us of.
Second, it outlines the boundaries of this cosmic conflict and shows the EXACT DAY Earth will be created: http://revelado.org/thetimeoftheend.pdf

Faith trumps evidence any day. Without faith, God won't reveal himself to you. No wonder so many are lost. They just devalue faith like it's childish or something, when in fact it's the very thing needed in order to have a relationship with God. Worldly views have ruined society.
Somebody in book of Hebrews said faith is the evidence...what?
