Obviously Democrats and President Obama were not going to cave on the President’s signature achievement program of his first term.
Demanding that Obamacare be defunded or delayed was a losing demand from the beginning.
Maybe some Republicans are just out to attack the President and the government and the country out of pure spite since they couldn’t win the presidential election or take over the Senate.

Update:@Robert: You can’t be serious. The Democrats wanted a clean CR, on which they had already compromised with the Republicans. Republicans launched an attack on Obamacare and tied it to the government funding, i.e., they took the funding hostage. Don’t think you can get away with rewriting history that is so recent.

DEMOCRATS made SCORES of CHANGES to "Obamacare" AFTER it was law - including DELAYS AND OUTRIGHT ELIMINATION of several provisions so WHY WOULDN'T they negotiate on doing more of the SAME thing that ALL Democrats expressly demanded?
Further, after the "defunding" was blocked, the GOP offered EVERYTHING the Dmecrats wanted - with EXACTLY ONE change - making Congress subject to the same rules as everyone else. Now, THAT is what all Democrats refuse to accept and THAT is what the "shut-down" is ALL about.
As it turns out, less than 1% of people visiting healthcare.gov and the State Exchanges are actually purchasing insurance.

It is so expensive that they cannot afford it,
Now, guess which side of the political spectrum made the most calls.
Soon, even liberals will have to admit that Obama care is not an affordable health care law.
I'm sure that many liberals are now secretly hoping that the House Republicans will hold out on either delaying or de-funding Obama care.
Obama delayed a major portion of his "Signature Law" by blowing off the business mandate for a year. Not one single Democrat or Liberal media outlet said a word of protest. In fact the hardly covered it at all.
Why didn't they? Obama had no legal authority to do that.
I'm not thinking you understand what all of this is about and speaking of planning better, Obama had months to better plan for his Obamacare signup on the internet as no one can get thru.
Apparently, you haven't been listening to the arguments against Obama care. Apparently, you simply don't care how many Americans lose their jobs, their hours, their homes, their life savings---just to pay for the president's signature legislation. I'll share with you only ONE fact. Since Obama became president, the number of Americans living in poverty-----has more than doubled. THAT is why the government is shut down.

Liberals do not gain popularity by hard work and strong efforts, they do by playing either the blame game or the crying game. They will lie and minimize big problems, maximize little problems and roll over honesty to further increase their agenda. Sometimes its impossible to debate issues with them. Try the old saying... So, the Democrats said "if you don't give me what I want, I am going to shut the government down." The Republicans don't give the Democrats what they want and the shutdown is the fault of Republicans?????? I think you skipped a few logic 101 classes.
