House Republicans voted over 40 times to repeal Obamacare. Their efforts failed. Now they have shut down the government and refuse to pass a clean funding bill. Their demands hinge on delaying Obamacare.
Update:@Shovel Ready: Isn’t compromise supposed to apply to negotiating re the terms of individual pieces of legislation? The current bill before Congress is a funding bill to fund the entire government. Changes to the Obamacare legislation could be handled separately.

They couldn't use the legislative process to get rid of Obamacare because they just don't have enough Republicans to do that.
So Heck, since they gerrymandered (i.e. cheated) to get elected, why not shut the government down. I guess this is their version of Picketts Charge. A useless last gasp effort to stop Obamacare
That's true, their efforts failed because Harry Reid refused to allow debate on any of those bills. The issue of Obamacare got lost in the noise about Syria and Iran, and Boehner chose this episode to bring it back into the national spotlight. But he's taken it too far.
Congressional Lifers like Boehner and McCain need to go away if the Republicans ever expect to be taken seriously. That, and getting into the 21st century on social issues.
The House sent 3 bills to the Senate yesterday alone(and a few more in the week leading up to it). When Reid rejected those outright, they even offered to go into conference with the Senate to hammer out an agreement to avoid a shutdown. Reid rejected that too. It is the Democrats that caused this.
No. Democrats shut down the government. The last bill the house sent over funded Obamacare and didn't delay it. The democrats tabled the bill to shut down the government because they didn't want to have to be included in Obamacare.
Only in Tribecaville could an imperious dictator on a tirade cause a government shutdown and, somehow, those people defending the peoples' interests against his decrees are causing his jackbooted actions.
It is like the people of Russia finding out about the purges and saying "someone needs to inform Stalin of this so he can punish those responsible!"
Your question is concise, correct and to the point. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
All we asked for was illegal application of the law.
Not application of the law by Obama campaign contribution amount.
Take a look at who's in charge. Your "leader" needs to start doing a better job.
They would keep on trying.
obongo is the one refusing to compromise or negotiate. The goose/gander compromise seems perfectly logical to me.
