y=1+ √(3h+1)
how do i rearrange this to make h the subject? i cant see how i can take (3h+1) from the square root symbol, because you have to do the same thing to both sides and squaring both sides involves doing a different thing :S
i dont need you to do everything, just how i can eliminate the square root? :/
thanks

y=1+ √(3h+1)
y - 1 = √(3h+1)
(y - 1)^2 = 3h + 1
(y - 1)^2 - 1 = 3h
((y - 1)^2 - 1) / 3 = h
y-1 = sqrt(3h+1)
(y-1)^2 = 3h + 1
(y-1)^2-1 = 3h
h = [(y-1)^2-1]/3
