Wind surf over shark infested waters. Sharks usually don't attack you for no reason like that. A fire, however, would blow up smoke right in my face, and it might dry out the gliding-thing, and make it catch fire. So wind surfing over shark infested waters is safer.
Hang glide over a forest fire. The heat from the fire could keep you up for ever if necessary. A surfer with his legs and arms hanging out the side of a sufboard, while he/she's waiting for the next wave looks like a seal from below. That's usually when surfers get hit.
Hangglide over fire, for sure. You can get some thermal lift off of that thing and steer into safety. Shark infested waters you can only swim toward shore until you're missing an arm.
