I got a red light citation on my way home from work. So i just got the notice in the mail, however, since i’m not the owner of the vehicle; it was issued to the owner. I did inform the owner, he just told me to pay it and call it good. If i pay it, with my credit card on the respected site, would the citation be in my name or the owners name?

Citation still in owner's name.
Have you also made arrangements for paying for the increased insurance premiums? A single red-light ticket can boost those premiums by about 20% for the next three years.
Individual states might have different laws regarding red-light camera tickets. I've linked an article below regarding California. In general, if you're the owner and get a red-light camera ticket and you're weren't the driver, you contest it simply claiming that you weren't the driver. Just because it's a lot of work for the police to find out who was driving it doesn't mean that you have to have the ticket on your record. You are also not obligated to assist in their investigation (you don't have to tell them who the driver was).
If you want to be a stand-up friend, you should offer to pay for the attorney's fees (typically around $100), and if there's still fee/penalties after that, pay those.
Red light cameras are the devil. They don't do anything toward making the roads safer. They are there only to extract money from the citizenry. Fight them with every last breath you have.
The ticket will remain in the owner's name. However, it will not go on either of your driving records.
Are you talking about a red light camera? In that case, yes, the violation is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle. The Police aren't going to spend the time and effort tracking down the driver.
Anyone can pay it on the appropriate site (I don't know what a "respected site" is). In MY State, yes, the ticket issued to the owner would appear in the owner's name in an auto vehicle insurance check.
My sister very foolishly let a co-worker drive her a car a handful of times. The co-worker got several "camera tickets" which were sent to my sister who handed them to the co-worker for payment and then my sister stopped allowing the co-worker to use the vehicle. All was well until my sister's auto insurance "ran her name" for whatever reason when she renewed, and the tickets were counted against her.
The citation is not a traffic offense so it is not "in" anyone's name. The payment would of course be in your name since it is your card and the payment would clear any encumbrances that may apply to the vehicles registration, but that is the end of it.
