Speaking as a person who was brought up as a Jehovah's Witness, all I can say is that they pay no attention to the sayings of men, of historians, scholars, philosophers etc. I was not allowed to study any books other than Watchtower literature and so (apart from what education I received at school) I remained blissfully ignorant of history and of words of wisdom (as quoted above).
From a Jehovah's Witness mindset, they would probably say that since Satan is the evil ruler of this world, all it takes for evil to triumph is for Jehovah's people to remain silent. Or something similar.
From a Christian mindset, I would say that we must stand up against and speak out against evil whenever we encounter it. For example, the persecution of Christians in Islamic and Communist countries. Of course, in order to take action against the evil that is perpetrated throughout the world, a person would have to be aware of and involved in events.
Because Jehovah's Witnesses take no part in what they describe as "worldly politics" they would probably say that it is up to Jehovah to punish evildoers but they will have nothing to do with what goes on outside of their own religious denomination other that to preach their version of the gospel.
Unlike Jehovah's Witnesses, churches get involved in what's going on in the world and reach out to help those in need and to stand up for those who are being persecuted and abused. They actively engage in the secular and social issues of our day. Their Christian conscience will not allow them to do nothing or remain silent.
This would be true only if man was responsible for saving the world and destroying evil..
Since man can not save anyone, and only God has the power and ability to save man.
the truthful statement would be:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that God does nothing"
.New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Rev 11: 18"And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth."
