Haha no. I live in Canada and there's a time and a place for everything including maple syrup. I wouldn't put maple syrup on savory foods like pasta and chicken. That's gross.
I think I'll answer by providing a food that tastes good with both, thus uniting our two beautiful nations as one. Because it doesn't matter how you cut it, with ketchup or maple syrup, BACON is delicious with BOTH.
I'm American and I do put ketchup on a lot of stuff. Not everything though, in fact I'll use pretty much anything but ketchup on chicken strips or chicken nuggets.
I'm Canadian, and I although I incorporate maple syrup into nearly everything I bake/cook for a sweet flavour, it's not like I just dunk my potato chips in it.
We do occasionally do maple syrup "shots" though (or maybe that's just my family...)

Syrup - No, just on pancakes and waffles.
Ketchup - Just on fries
I am American and no I don't put ketchup on everything. I only put it on hot dogs, and deep fried foods like, chicken fingers fish sticks etc.
I like ketchup but I anly use it on burgers and fries
