If a corporation makes millions of dollars and “pays no taxes”....?
Doesn’t that money get taxed as it's paid to shareholders. Isn't taxing both the company and then the individuals who get their dividends double taxation?
Yeah, actually, it does. I operate two small businesses. Both of these businesses pay taxes. These taxes are built into the price of our services to really the customer pays. But when we 'pay ourselves' out of the business proceeds, we pay taxes on that as income. So, in essence, the business has had to pay a tax...thank you, customer...and I pay a tax. It is double taxation.
So, if my businesses could get away with paying no taxes, say it was subsidized, then my prices would be lower to my customer because my cost of doing business would be lower. I'd still pay the income tax on the draw from my business so that the taxes would be paid. This is what most folks don't know or understand. Customers, not businesses, ALWAYS pay the taxes.
I'll put it to you this way, if I tell you I oppose all personal income tax, will you stop bending over backward (or forward) to defend multinational corporations who would throw you under the bus without a thought if it made them a nickel?
Free market local business=good.
General Electric's offshore base of operations and no-bid gov't contracts=bad.
There is NO moral equivalence between American small business/free market and giant mega-conglomerates who exploit the government to screw us.
Fight for lower taxes and less regulations on local businesses, not General Electric.
That business still pays payroll taxes, property taxes, gross receipts taxes on sales and raw materials, road and fuel taxes, excise taxes, capital gains taxes, utility taxes, cell phone taxes, all of which leads to inflation since they all get passed along to the consumer, and then, guess what? They pay taxes on the taxes.
Liberals always leave out every single tax there is except for income tax when whining about how corporations pay no taxes.

They have the resources to defend themselves.
Not all corporations pay dividends, GE stopped their regular dividend after they almost went under.
No.
Distribution tax rates right now are 0% for lower incomes. (They're taxed at the same rates as capital gains).
Many distributions never see taxes because they're earned by tax shelter accounts (IRAs, annuities, 459 plans, etc.)
"Pays no INCOME taxes."

Not even close. Many companies are on 'the dole' from taxes due to loopholes that need to be banned.
Oh, for heaven's sake. No.
To what lengths will you go to defend the corporate whores?
That money doesn't necessarily go to it shareholders.
