Can I give 9½ month old 'Childrens Ibuprofen' 10 pts.?
It says ages 2-11. If so how much? Hes teething & his father forgot to give me back his tylonal. HELP! I feel horrible right now & dont want to give him any if I shouldnt.
When my son was an infant I only gave him ibuprofen, either baby mortin or generic brand children's ibuprofen. I think tylenol is junk for children and adults, it doesn't help at all. He is a perfectly healthy child now, no complications.
If you do give it to him, go by the weight recommended for the dosage. OR you can find how many mls of acetaminophen is in a regular dose of tylenol that you give, and adjust the dosage of ibuprofen to match the mls.
Call a Dr or Pediatrician. Normally I think its overkill, but Monica posted doses WITHOUT a strength. I have no clue what your bottle says & how many mg per mL & they are NOT all the same - so you need someone tell you for weight how much dosage to give. For instance it can come in (a) 50mg/1.25ml OR (B) 100mg/5ml. So if you gave 5ml of the 1st one (A) - you would be dosing 200 mg - double of what the 2nd one (B) is for 5ml. That is my point - call the Dr & get it straight. Don't monkey with your child's meds on your own.
And I have always found Hyland teething Tablets to work better than that stuff too. So give them a try when you get a chance to pick some up.
our ped gave us a handout and it says 12-17 lbs 0.8 ml, 18-23 lbs 1.2 ml, 24-35 lbs 1.6 ml, for the tylenol. for the motrin or ibuprofen it says 12-17 lbs 1.25 ml, 18-23 lbs 1.875 ml, and 24-35 lbs 2.5 ml.
Do you have an after hours Dr. you can call? You can call any Pediatrician in the phone book if they have an on call nurse, and she should be able to tell you.
