Those of you who know anything about the BILL OF RIGHTS know that it guarantees people specific freedoms from government involvement. The first amendment prohibits government from forming a state religion (and imposing that on the people as England with church taxes). The modern concept of Separation of Church and State goal well beyond fears that congress may start the official American Church.

The first amendment restricts the government. It does not address or restrict the activities of any religion.
EDIT: Thanks for the thumbs down. It simply proves that some people can not read and simply believe what they are told. The First Amendment states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;". It does not restrict religions.
Probably all of them. It is a little known fact that the concept of separation of Church and state came from a letter. I forget which president wrote it but I think it was Andrew Jackson. He was trying to reassure some religious people that the government can't regulate their freedom. But it is not mentioned in the constitution. The closest the constitution gets to mentioning it is: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;". That is our first amendment right.
Leftists, rightists, centrists, and anyone who passed a seventh grade social studies course knows that the concept of the separation of church and state, if not the exact phrase, are found in the First Amendment to the Constitution.
I'll say this now: I'm a "leftist" and the separation of church and state is not in the Constitution. It's stated in the Treaty of Tripoli, it's stated by Jefferson several times during and before his presidency, but it is not in the Constitution.
It doesnt matter if it is explicit or not in the Amendments, religion should be private and not interfere with civil governance. You should not impose religious doctrine on other citizens.
I KNOW that the first amendment has been interpreted by the Supreme Court to mean that there is a separation from church and state, and therefore it is the law.
Religion needs to stay out of the public and out of the government! I think a don't ask, don't tell policy is appropriate.
Paying careful attention to paragraph 2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_...
Are you trying to show everyone how informed and knowledgeable you are on this subject? Perhaps you tell us why this is vital to the survival of our Constitution.
First amendment, look it up. it's called the "Establishment clause" and "Free Exercise Clause"
“ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... ”
