Both democrats and republicans desire to eliminate employer tax breaks on providing employee health insurance. Worse still, both are talking about eliminating home mortgage deductions too.

I think those are just a few examples of things happening that are about to "hit the fan." I am worried about unemployment, even though my fiance nor I have ever been on it. It is winter, and many people will be hurting with the jobless rate so high. I am also worried about all the Republican governors we now have after the midterms, including my state. They will be slashing the budgets, social programs for the poor first of course. Haley Barbour said on Cspan he will be ending community mental health crisis centers and public mental health centers. These are places that poor people with mental health problems really need, and they are already underfunded and overworked. We will have more people on the streets and more crimes when these people cannot get the help they need, and I really hope other governors do not take Mr. Barbour's example.
Alice Rivlin, who was part of five presidents' administrations including Bill Clinton's and was founder of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, does not want these tax cuts for employers to be the only thing considered in considering budget cuts, and she has joined forced with one other committee member to get other ideas on the table for discussion in cutting our budget. The proposed elimination of these tax breaks would not take effect until 2018 and would at that time be spread out over ten years, on into 2028, if they are enacted, and the labor unions are STRONGLY OPPOSED to losing the tax breaks, so nothing is settled. I trust President Obama to BLOCK anything that would hurt the American people.
If you read the article carefully, and with an open mind, note the "maybe" element running throughout
that seems to mean this is just one of many ideas being floated. If you voice your concerns en masse on the whitehouse.gov Contact Us comment line (in other words, LOBBY LIKE CRAZY), the Obama administration will pay attention---this is NOT what the administration wanted and the Democrats have already VOTED DOWN this very proposal during the health care debates. We have a real chance here to make our voices heard on the issue and demand alternatives.
I think if Republicans ever gain control of all branches of government, the America we all knew will disappear and become unrecognizable.
I think a more becoming name for this country will be The United Nazi States of Fascist Amerika.
They hate Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, Catholics, Jews and every other culture that has made this country so wonderful and will turn the U.S. into an exclusive WASP club. And others will need not apply.
Trillions to bail out the banks, not one cent to help the common man. Yet still no massive protests, no call for a constitutional convention, the sheeple just sit there and suffer grateful for the morsels that fall off the bankers table.... How sad Americans have become such weak people.
Widdout a paddle, Wally.
I'm not an employer and I don't have a mortgage.
This does not effect me in any meaningful way.
Hmmm, what was it that people kept telling me about the cost of education back when I was still in college...
Oh yah, "Sorry pal, not my problem."
EDIT:
I'm self-employed. Again, this does not effect me in any meaningful way.
Ahhhh, Schadenfreude.
Amen Apache, amen!
We are so far down the hole that America can't climb out. We are doomed.
Banks run the world. De-capitalize them by taking your money out and buying gold and silver, and the people can finally be free.
Yes, THANKS DEMOCRATS.
IT IS HAPPENING ON OBAMA'S WATCH.
THE DEMOCRATS ARE IN CONTROL.
THE DEMOCRATS ARE TO BLAME.
IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!
