Is the GOP's unreasonable attacks on the Affordable Care Act (P.L.111-148 and P.L.111-152) just another example of their Ayn-Rand/Paul-Ryan self-above-all-else mentality? Elected representatives do have comprehensive health care for themselves and their families, and the Republicans are against making sure that all Americans have such access. If that is your question, then I would have to agree this is one factor, but I suspect there is also some heavy-duty corporate-collusion going on as well (opensecrets.org and littlesis.org), if we all follow the lobbyist dollars from the 1300 for-profit often-greed-driven insurance companies. The insurance industry's lobbyists in D.C. outnumber our lawmakers by at least 20 to 1 and these lobbyists have mighty DEEP POCKETS.
Insurers do not like the fact that they must now spend at least 80% of every single consumer dollar received in premiums on providing actual medical care for the consumer or else REFUND THE DIFFERENCE at the end of each year. They also do not like not being able to charge women higher premiums than male counterparts any longer nor the fact that they can no longer just up and drop premium payers if those premium payers should become ill or injured---these measures cut into the industry's $TRILLIONS$ in profits and demand that they behave RESPONSIBILITY---not something they enjoy doing.
I want President Obama to STAND FIRM and do NOT bargain with these GOP economic terrorists who are attemping to get their fiscally ILLITERATE spoiled-brat temper-tantrum way. Let's just VOTE THEM OUT OF POWER, these rightwing extremists, in the 2014 mid-term elections!
