Why aren’t imported goods not made on par with our labor and environmental laws taxed more?
After all, those types of imports have resulted in high unemployment in this country. Of which puts a strain on our tax dollars due to the demand for social services. The question is, why are we shouldered with paying that obligation? Shouldn’t that burden be placed on those that cause our economic demise, i.e. China, Wal*Mart, etc.
Update:@Faux: Notice our Christian nation knows about child labor in China but turn a blind eye towards it. It's because money is their true God.
Update 3:Middle class America pays to high a price for Chinese goods. I say tax those imports at the port or at Wal*Mart.

The lopsided trade agreements and lax immigration enforcement has been done intentionally to drive down the cost of labor in the USA while maximizing profits for the corporations who own our politicians. Politicians are put into office by the corporations who finance their campaigns. Those politicians then do the bidding for the people who paid to put them in office. If the corporations had their way, there would be no safety nets like unemployment insurance, Workman's compensation or social security. Workers would work for whatever the boss says he's paying and you the worker have no right to anything more. Do as the corporations say or starve. Work 7 day per week 12 hours per day for starvation wages with no benefits like health insurance or vacation time or sick time or anything. Workers are expendable, so if you are sick or hurt or old, you will be cast off to starve.
This is the most dangerous time in America since the run up to World War II. Working class people are losing real jobs, and will soon lose their rights to organize if the Republicans have their way. Read about the 1930's, and you will see many parallels to what is happening today.

I have an example for you. The Montreal Protocol. Mexico would not join, yet the tree huggers (usually associated with teh left) strapped the burden on the US and others. Pelosi and the left wanted cap and trade, their plan was to send vast sums of our tax dollars to China to pay for improvements there. Mexican trucks come up here and run our roads illegally, so our US TAX DOLLARS pay to fix them up. All of this comes from your left side. Much more too,.

On both sides is NAFTA, made possible by the Right but signed into law by Clinton. The very same Clinton that vetoed ANWR drilling.

I am not happy at all with the GOP. They make claims that I want to hear, but then they go to Washington and hurt us. The Tea Party is making them accountable. I hope you know that a number of GOP big spending fossils view the Tea Party as an enemy. These are commonly called rinos be the Right and affectionately called "moderates" by the left. edit: China, Mexico do not adhere to our standards because there is no incentive for them to do so. They are like 3rd world countries in some ways. Exploit the environment and workers. I saw a show where a factory is staffed by mostly women, and they live in a collective more or less, supplied by the company. Very very low pay, very tedious work, suicides are high, girls just lost and jump off the building.

And everyone knows, they stripped America of manufacturing as part of their war on human rights, and dignity. The people's republic has 1.3 billion folks, so they aren't concerned with workers rights like we used to be.
Probably because the producers would retaliate by taxing any US goods and services sold in their country that did not comply with Sharia law or something like that.
