Calculate DeltaH rxn for the following using the Delta Hf values listed in Appendix L. Is the reaction exothermic or endothermic?
CH4(g) + 4 Cl2(g) ---> CCl4(l) + 4 HCl (g)
Na2CO3(s) + 2 HCl(aq) ---> H2O(l) + CO2(g) + 2NaCl(aq)
Update:Calculate the enthalpy per gram for the combustion of hydrogen.
2 H2(g) O2(g) - 2 H2O(l) Horxn = -571.6 kJ

ΔrH=∑H(products)−∑H(reactants)
I don't have your table but here is how I would set it up
[(heat of formation for CCl4) + (4 x -92.3)] - [(4 x 0) + (-74.4)] solve
If the answer is a positive the reaction is endothermic.
