Baptism was an element taken from paganism
It is a visible sign of a person’s entrance into the Christian community.
It has nothing to do with the last supper--that's communion. The third one refers to any of the major creeds, and the fourth one refers to charity.
Jesus said that everyone must be baptized in water . He even showed us by his own example that even he had to get baptized . It can only be performed by someone who is at least like John The Baptist , and they have to be as dedicated as Jesus was just before he was baptized . So , probably 99.9999% of all baptisms are false . Only in my Church are Baptisms accepted by God . Click on my answers on this subject for evidence of this claim , and it's address .
The action of Baptism shows the Christian community that we are buried as was Christ and through the Resurrection of Christ are reborn. That is the celebration of The Resurrection; not the observing sun day.
In part, it is "It is a visible sign of a person’s entrance into the Christian community. "
It is also the washing away of our sins. It is not optional.

According to the teachings of Holy Scripture, it is merely an outward sign of our spiritual rebirth by the 'quickening' of, regeneration by, the Holy Spirit, through being washed in the Blood of Jesus Christ. That is the only significance of Baptism. It holds no special power and grants no spiritual gifts, or guarantees.
well it depends. christian is a broad term. there are methodist, catholic, prodistant, and may others. i am a prodestant. i believe that when we are baptized it is a way of saying we are born again. we have come to the father in heaven saying that we are now his child because we excepted Christ. Its a way of saying I am serious about being a Christian. I want to serve you and have you as my God, best friend, and father.
to me, it is an initiation ceremony into the kingdom of God.
at baptism, a believer declares to God and to all spiritual entities that he has
made a CHOICE ... to be a part of God's kingdom and therefore, to abide
in His Laws.
None of them.
