I used Wnet=1/2mv^2-1/2mv^2 to find energy lost by the hammer to the nail, then used that for Q in Q=mc(delta T), and solved for delta T. I ended up with a 40* change. Just want to know if im on the right track or totally off.

I don't remember what the Wnet equation is, but I used the equation for kinetic energy (Because the problem assumes the nail absorbs all the energy).
KE=1/2mv^2
I imagine that gets us the same result. At any rate, I did roughly the same thing and got 40.24*C. So you're good. :3
