I believe alcohol, tobacco, marijuana should be ban just like other dangerous substances. They're all extreme addictive and can have long and short term effects.
If not totally ban them, there should be more strict restrictions on their consumption.
It's probably won't happen because the government would be losing a big income source, but what do you all think?

Actually of the three vices you cite only the first two are physically addictive.
You have never heard of prohibition?
No. We tried that in the 1920s and it didn't work.
evidence shows that such a ban would be violated or ignored
No, but advertising it should
No.............
Read some history, banning alcohol did not work and one of the unintended consequences was the rise of organized crime.
It would only lead to unregulated products being taken by the public from the black market which could potentially have greater consequences on health.I have never seen the point of smoking and dont have any interest in marijuanna but do like alcohol.I think its true what they say, (if alcohol was invented today it wouldnt be treated as a light social thing but its been around a long time, and having been to countries all over Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America etc.. i can tell you its big business everywhere even in predominantly muslim countries where its simply drank out of sight by many of those who publically condemn it.Does alcohol case problems, yes for sure it does, binge drinking, alcoholism, violence, health effects...the biggest problem in the western world today though is food, i work with one guy who has been on some diet or other for the past 5 years, slimming clubs etc..the man cant go into a supermarket because he admits he cant control himself around food, his health is being eroded and his mobility will likely be taken from him younger than it should, now thats a sad thing, point is, we cant go around banning everything just because some have an issue with it,if we did we would need to ban driving because 90% of people perceptually drive 5+ mph over the posted speed limit, dont use turn signals and basically dont drive as they should, pedestrians here in the UK always dart across city streets infront of cars to save themselves seconds, should we ban walking?
The Eighteenth Amendment says that was already done and the 21st says it was a failure.
Well, here is something else that can have long term effects. Being required to commute to work in icy road conditions causing an accident and possibly killing any other poor soul who was also required to commute. Give workers the right to refuse and take time off without pay, and then we’ll talk about letting you ban alcohol and cholesterol and bok choy and sugar and caffeine and everything else.
