I’m asking about this because there is a huge grey area in the navy instructions regarding our situation. Standardly, our details would usually try and main a one at sea one at shore rotation between the two of us. But since the CTN rating is not a sea going rate and isn’t defined by sea-shore rotations. Is it possible for us to both be cut shore duty orders while co located?

It’s honestly a hit and miss. She has a limited number of locations to be stationed at. Whether or not there is orders to that location for you is a chance. Even those in other Ratings can have issues being together. Former friends were both supply, one got orders to Hawaii on shore and the other to Virginia at sea. While the sea command did change home port to Hawaii it happened after a year apart and then throw in a few deployments too. They didn’t spend much time together. You just hope for the best
the chances of you ever being stationed at one of the few places she can be is already very small.
they are not gonna change your sea/shore rotation just because your married.
Look at it this way. You are on a current set of orders as an IT3. If you are on sea orders now and due for shore, you go to shore. If you are on Type I shore duty, you go overseas or to sea according to the needs of the Navy. Your home port will be where your spouse gets duty on rotation. Your preference will be co-location, not both co-location AND where you want to go.
The Navy may extend one of you on sea/OUTUS duty if approved for co-location to line up your transfer dates.
