I'm absolutely devastated. My girlfriend told me she wants to break up this morning. She told me she is no longer happy. I don't know what to do or how to react. She will barely speak to me. We have been together for a year this month. It's like some days we are totally happy, and others we bicker and fight. I need advice. We live together also which makes this awkward. When we got home from work, I told her I'm staying at my dads for a couple days to give her space. We hugged, kissed and said our "love yous", though it seemed forced on her behalf. There hasn't been any Facebook status changes, her profile picture is still of us. I worry so bad that this is it for us. I'm totally not ready for it. I love her so much. this is the first break up threat in our relationship. Anyway, I'm lost on how to react to this, or what to say or what to do.

Give her some space and see if she misses you. I got my boyfriend back this way and I can assure you it works. Play hard-to-get. If you guys talk again, ask her what was making her unhappy and tell her she means a lot to you and you would love to work on the relationship if she would like to.
A year isn't a long time for a relationship, if I was you I'd see how the distancing goes first. Don't rely on Facebook for your relationship updates.
If she wants to leave then she will, you'll feel much better in the days, weeks or even months to come. Trust me it'll all work out, time heals everything.
Take a vacation and put your feet up.
