There are a number of diets and exercise protocols for your condition, but your nutritionist is your best solution. You can tell her your health status, age, eating habits, medicine you are taking and what types of exercises you are doing now or planning in the long run.
There is so much that goes into this just a few books on the matter can't even scratch the surface for your personal objectives and goals.
If you want further help you can ask the doctor who diagnosed you with the condition to make you a referral to a reliable nutritional therapist and if you request you can get into a diabetic program with planned exercise diet and weight control.
The only book I have read that seems to be helpful to people with weight problems and/or diabetes that I know about is called Wheat Belly, It talks about how wheat gluten contains a certain amount of sugar from what is known as the Glycemic Index. It seems wheat, one of America's most consumed foods, contains gluten and converts into sugar that raises the glucose levels of the blood and in so doing over taxes us and causes many of us to develop Diabetes. There seems to be much worth reading in this book . I think the author's name is Dr. William Davis M.D.
Other than that you need to monitor your blood sugar levels and try to avoid anything that contains high fructose corn syrup that can bring your blood sugar way too high and fast.

I am also a type two diabetic. Firstly don`t worry about not being on medication. many diabetics can control it through diet alone. Get your doctor to refer you for advice on what to eat. He or she will refer you to a dietitian and you will be able to get good advice. Basically though you want to keep off sugar cakes and chocolates because they help to cause the complications.
Eat things like Scott's porridge oats, wheetabix, semi skimmed milk, lean meet and fish are really good. A few potatoes, not many, wholemeal pasta, again not too much. I find I keep off pasta and rice, if I eat them, I don`t have more than a handful, It is a pity you don`t eat veg as these are very good. Fruit you can eat but be careful. Grapes are very high in sugar as are mangos and pineapple. If you are used to white bread then it is a good idea to come off it since this will send your sugar levels up. I just really drink water, tea or coffee. But if you do have drinks stick to diet ones and the sugar free ones.
I find that I check myself with my finger pricker and this really determines how much I should eat. You do this before a meal and two hours after, and obviously if it is way up then you know to eat less of starchy stuff. I was advised to eat a little starch at each meal to keep the blood sugars up.
I never used to exercise before I was a diabetic and now I do. I go to the gym and swimming at least twice a week, and this keeps the sugar in check. I am a lot healthier now than before I was diabetic. Don`t worry about the weight loss I have lost 3 stone.
I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Diabetes and no med? Possible. I would eat quite normally (but reduce the junk food and the soda pops - go for diet soda). But, also, see your doctor before deciding (ok, kidding) to kill yourself.
give your dog a bath instead of paying someone else to do it
degrease by scrubbing in the shower for 15 minutes then spend 7 minutes shaving 3 minutes toweling off 4 minutes moisturizing and 20 minutes blow drying and styling your hair
