my daughter owned a bull mastiff and was allergic to dog/cat fur. Her doctor prescribed anti allergic tablets. Sorry, dont know what they were called, but she had to take one every day or else she would get itchy nose syndrome and sneeze non stop !
Get an allergy test to see what all you are allergic to. Your doctor can prescribe an antihistamine specific for those allergies. Good idea to find out what all you are allergic to.
Have you actually gone to an allergist to see what they can do? Antihistamines are an option, as are allergy shots. They can enable many people to have pets they otherwise could not. Groom the dog daily - outside. Vacuum daily with a vacuum that has a HEPPA filter. Keep the dog out of your bedroom, close the door. They make allergen wipes for dogs and cats - check the pet stores for those. And over time people often become desensitized to a dog/cat. It takes time though. Start grooming and cleaning, and make that allergist appointment.
I've seen this before on here. It was left in yiur care and already abandoned by yiur brither right? how allergict are yiu? If you avoid it, the dog might get sad and take it personally.m, or feel left out.
We suggested that you put an ad in the facebook advertiser, or try to find it a home unless you're attached already, vice versa.
I think you can take pills now not to be allergict. Also build resistance and immunitities.
It may be hard for you to believe, but I developed an immunity to my cat, as of now I don't experience any reaction to her anymore.
It took around a year of everyday exposure to over come the allergy. I don't sneeze, cough and my eyes don't itch anymore after touching the cat. The only thing that still causes problems is her scratches, they itch very badly.
Before I got my cat, my face would swell my eyes would almost close together and I would sneeze profusely not only that, but areas where cats touched me for any amount of time would turn into small rashes that itched for about an hour or until I could get away from the cat.
I know I'm just some random idiot on the internet, but trust me I have no reason to lie. Immunity is possible.
If you can at all help it don't get rid of the dog, getting separated from their owner is quite cruel. Not just for the dog, but for you as well.

You could try allergy shots.
You should bathe the dog in a specific dog allergen shampoo.
Keep your house super clean, and don't let the dog in your room.
Give it to your local Chinese takeaway

The alternative would be to take allergy medication and keep your dog.
Alternative? Become immune!

There are some allergy shots you can get that should last a while. See if your doctor has anything like that, and you can take them regularly
