determine the number a for the function f defined by
f(x)=x+2 if x≤3
.....=2x-a if x>3
is continuous in al R (Reals)
Thanks for your help
When x = 3 , you need the two parts to be equal to make the function continuous.
x + 2 = 2x - a
3 + 2 = 2(3) - a
5 = 6 - a
- 1 = - a ......................... [ subtracted 6 from both sides ]
1 = a ............................. [ multiplied both sides by -1 ]
