Well, it's a "sticky" situation for lack of better words.
1. He should say he is the best player because why say your not? Obviously he isn't the best. It's LeBron James followed closely by Kevin Durant. There is no question about that. He has to have the confidence.
2.But at the same time he shouldn't have said that because how can you call yourself the best player in the league and bail on your team/city in crucial moments like he did? Yes-he got injured. But he was medically cleared to play months before the playoffs even started. He could have played. It's not like he would have been rushing back into any thing because he was already cleared to play.
He is being confident and also being cocky at the same time. I never heard rose being discussed as the best player in the league. He missed a whole year when he was ok to play in march or something and decided not to help his team in the playoffs. He has to prove and basically have a breakout year this coming season. So if he doesnt then people including myself will be remembering this quote and he will get hit hard by the media and every fanbase.
Funny how Bulls fan can quickly defend Derrick Rose who sat out a year but Jay Curtler sat out one game and they hated him. If this is "confideince" then where was this "confideince" during the regular season (after all-star break) or playoffs. He was cleared to play yet he didn't. Iman Shumpert tore his ACL the same time D-Rose did and still came back. I know people are going to say "if he returned he could have got injured again," but that's just and excuse. Because if that's the case Adrian Peterson & Iman Shumpert (Ithink I'm missing someone else) should have been injured.
As a bulls fan i hate him now, the 3 core players of this team are only gonna be together this upcoming season if they dont get a ring, which is a possibility they have the best starting 5 in basketball, but even with that there are still amazing teams they are gonna overcome, and last year was a chance at a ring wasted.
After being a whiney b*tch all last season i like seeing this out of him, it shows he's confident in himself again; something he never was last season, and morale is a huge part of playing will and if you dont believe in yourself your not gonna play well; if he game back not believing in his leg and other capabilities he wouldve done terrible last year, i tihnk he should be fine when he gets back and he definitely is one of the best players in the league, obviously not better than lebron but you can make a case for 2nd best player
I have no idea why everybody is so mad that he sat out a year. A ACL tear can take a year or more to recover from. DROSE is harder on his knees than any other player. Do you see how he drives to the basket with the hop steps he jumps like crazy and is very hard on his knees. Trust me knee pain in basketball is very hard to deal with even if it isn't very much because you are using your knees for everything you do in the game. Can't wait to see DROSE play again.
It's called confidence as well as being cocky, ignorant, and a douche. You can't say your the best player in the world when you haven't even played in over a year. This out of respect of every other player in the league.

But, that's just my take on the whole thing.
