well, the off year voter is often older and whiter than the presidential year voter.

Also, Republicans won their own seats quite easily. The actual number of seats that are contested is very low. And unless there is a personal issue with say the Democrat in Massachusetts or the Republican in Oklahoma, the likelihood of changing the balance is pretty low.

There might be a few seats lost by the Republicans - Minnesota 6th unless some Republican can beat her in the primary. But in reality off year elections are rarely won by the President's party.

Maybe not. The 2014 midterm will be the first election with a population which has experienced the initial effects of Obamacare. It is expected that many of these voters might not support their health care decisions being made by a government bureaucrat.

That would be extremely unusual -- for a President to see his party REGAIN control in his sixth year in office. The pattern has always before been that Presidents see their party LOST control of Congress either in their second year or in their sixth year. Eisenhower and Clinton both saw their party lose control of Congress in the second year, and obviously did not regain control in the sixth year.

I think they will keep the House if they fold on taxes and kiss Obama's black a/ss . Obama ran his campaign on tax hikes and no entitlement cuts. That's what America wants, and it is this selfish behavior that will wreck the country.
