The talked for 1 hour 45 minutes, but after that there were no cameras and the usual post-meeting press briefings, joint communiques and interviews. Netanyahu refused to make any comments - and immeditely left for Paris.
And Obama after the meeting looked like a mute deep water fish.

Each president came to the meeting in a company of his advisors . On the Israeli side, they were Defense Minister Ehud Barak, National Security Council head Uzi Arad, Ambassador Michael Oren and Netanyahu adviser Yitzchak Molcho. U.S. officials included National Security Adviser General (ret.) Jim Jones, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Special Middle East Envoy George Mitchell and National Security Council Director for Near Eastern Affairs Dan Shapiro.
Quite a representative group.
But the Presidents talked without witnesses and only let their advisors attend during the last 15 minutes, and the only result of these secret 90- minutes talks was the curt White House statement: "The president reaffirmed our strong commitment to Israel's security, and discussed security cooperation on a range of issues. The president and prime minister also discussed Iran and how to move forward on Middle East peace."
The reason is simple: Obama has nothing to offer to Israel- and nothing to pressure it with.
US official sources admitted Monday, Nov. 9, that Tehran had finally blocked every compromise offered by the Obama administration through backdoor channels. This and the US president Barack Obama's Middle East peace initiative have both run into the sand. Secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Middle East envoy George Mitchell informed him last week after their failed bid to persuade the Palestinians to sit down and talk peace with Israel.
Clinton found Mahmoud Abbas in Abu Dhabi with one foot out of the Palestinian Authority leadership and exploiting Obama's misplaced reliance on a total Israeli settlement construction freeze on the West Bank and in Jerusalem to strike a rejectionist position for the sake of restoring his tattered credibility on the Palestinian street. On that score, there is nothing much for Obama to discuss with Binyamin Netanyahu. A new Palestinian leader might find a way out of the impasse, but none is in the sights of the US president, the Israeli prime minister or the Palestinians. Even if a reasonable figure was found, it would take a newcomer to the PA leadership a couple of years to find his feet and establish himself. During that period, assuming the lid stayed clamped down on Palestinian terrorist action from the West Bank - which is far from a certainty - the peace track would be frozen solid, and America gives up with her intentions “to solve the conflict in 4 years”. According to State Department spokesman Ian Kelly, special Middle East envoy George Mitchell is not planning to return to the region anytime soon to pressure either of the parties toward further talks.
It means, by the way, that the “Palestinian State” will not be created in at least the next 10 years. So, our “dear pro- Palestinian friends” would better start to search for a job: from THIS one, on Yahoo, they will soon be sacked.
The results of the American diplomacy with Iran that Obama can put on the table are, for American president, even worse than with Arab- Israeli conflict , because time is running out as Iran speeds toward its nuclear and missile goals. This summer, Netanyahu gave Obama the time until the end of this year to hold off on Israeli military initiative against Iran to give Obama´s diplomatic engagement effort a chance.
This deadline is now only seven weeks away, and the results are “zero”. Washington sources are assuming that the US president will use the Israeli prime minister's brief Washington visit to ask him to extend this deadline a while longer to permit him a last throw at cajoling Iran to accept a deal over its uranium enrichment. Most probably, Netanyahu agreed , both for the sake of his good standing with the Obama administration and because he too is in no hurry to start a war against Iran.
