Jazz Musicians
Accounts of how jazz got started sometimes give the impression that the performers were all untrained musicians. They just happened to come up with something that had style and grace. In truth, we do not know much about the pioneers of jazz. But as the decades of the twentieth century rolled by, the form did attract a range of musical geniuses. Some taught themselves. Some had been classically trained. They had long dash and continue to have long dash one thing in common, however. They know how to maintain a balance between control and the need for soaring release.

a: untalented is not a synonym of untrained
b: we can only go by the musicians who actually managed to record, and as such can't make this sort of broad statement
c: true to some degree, of course, jelly roll morton was known to say otherwise
d: tue enough, and yet kinda meaningless. successful candies maintain balance between the tart and the sweet. successful lotions maintain balance between moisturizing and exfoliating.
