The oldest advanced civilization we know of was Mesopotamia. As for the first, i don't believe we know yet. There is always evidence of older and older civilization, many of which were destroyed long ago. The first animals known to perform ritual burials were the Neanderthal. Very early humans like these also were known to have made simple tools and clothing. They may have created a simple civilization, but i don't believe we have records of it and it wouldn't have been anything like Mesopotamia.
The Sumerians were the worlds first civilization. We still don't know where they came from. They were a non Semitic people in a Semitic region. The Babylonians conquered them gradually until finally the Sumerians became the Babylonians.
