What does "Noch wollt ich gern dem Tod entfliehen; doch hier ist dieses Glück nicht mein." translate to?

I was told that this was a modernized German version of "Noch wolde ich gern dem tod empfliehen; Zo habe ich des glucks nit hie", which is the last two lines of paragraph 22 from a 1460 book found here: http://www.totentanz-online.de/medien/literatur/he...

Supposedly the phrase translates to something along the lines of "I’d like to escape death nonetheless; But here I won’t have any luck". Would this be an appropriate modernized german translation?

German is quite uniquely phrased.

And the "old" version is quite like the "modern", it's more with the orthography (except the shift from Zo => Doch).

I might be wrong on some details of the translation though. Consider this a more Anglicised translation.
