Think about these 2 different definitions: “Faith is belief without proof.” “Faith seeks understanding.” What are the different underlying presuppositions for each? In other words, how do these definitions differ?
I cannot figure this out at all.

Faith is not belief without proof.
Faith is a hope that what you believe is true and you can base that faith and hope on observation and experience.
If you know someone really well then you have faith in them that they will be nice to you. Your experiences with that person has led you to have hope that your belief in them is justified. It isnt blind faith. It is based on experience with this person, but it is still faith because that person might turn on you at any minute. You dont control that person.
You can understand why you have your faith even if you dont have 100% proof that your faith is justified because you cant control every situation and you cant know everything.
I have faith that the grass on my lawn will be there tomorrow---but I can't prove it.
