Hello I am adventuring from the USA to Costa Rica & the Dominican Republic for 10 weeks during summer of 2011. This will be my first time out of the country so I don’t really know what to expect. While on the trip I will be hiking and doing other outdoor activities. I will be living in a hostel so I do not need to take lining or tents (however, I would need to bring towels). I was advised not to take suitcases but a rucksack. Some days I will be able to leave the rucksack at the hostel while some days I would have to carry it while hiking. I have never carried a rucksack before therefore; I don’t know what size need. I have been searching for ones with attachable daypacks that I can carry around the towns daily with extra shirts, camera, water bottle ect. I have found these two that interest me.

I will not be able to wash my clothes for the first 4 weeks on the trip therefore I will be taking at least 10 bottoms and 15 tops with underclothes & socks I know that I will also take an extra pair of hiking shoes and a pair of sandals with bathing suits and towels i don’t know it if helps but I am a plus size female (300 pounds) with very minor back problems I have looking for further information on the two packs above and cant not find how long the waist strap is so I do not know if they will fit around my body for extra support if someone could help me out and give me advice on rucksacks I would greatly appreciate it thank you
