You are right, it is Danish/Norweigan. Technically though, it is only Danish/Norweigan if spelt like Søren and not Soren. It is also the name of one of the band members from Aqua.
Note: It is a male name however it is common to be used for females as "Sorena" or "Sørena".
I don't really like the name Søren, but I love Sørena for girls. However, I don't have any problems with the name Søren and it is alright.
I met a girl recently called Soren, and the name really suited her. I wouldn't use it myself, but it's definitely a "unique in a good way" kind of name.

Handsome, it's a name from "The Matrix Reloaded", "Underworld", and the "Charlie and Lola" books, so getting much better known now.
Great, but would only really sound right with a Scandinavian last name.
