Parents start an innocent lie moving on to bigger lies to conceal the original and then one-day have to admit it was all lie. How do you justify you actions to young child?
Parents are the only people a child can wholeheartedly trust to tell them the truth but have lied to them during their developing years when they base the vast majority what they learn about the physical world and how it works as their foundation both emotionally scholastically. Can that be good?
Is a Lie is a lie or are some lies ok
Update:Again when is the right time.. or should they hear it from their friends and confront you about the lie?

Some lies are o.k. YOU HAVE to have Santa Claus, toothfairies, Easter bunnies, Leprachauns etc....This is very important to children because it gives them hope and faith. Maybe yes, false hope but noone I know has ever been MAD at their parents for that type of lie. In fact you need to have these things to carry on to generations after you. It also encourages children to appreciate that not only are they "getting" things, they should give as well.
Why is this a lie? Aren't you Santa Clause? The only people that would call this a lie are the people that need to ruin other peoples happiness!
I wouldn't call it a lie so much as a fun fairy tale. There are enough depressing things in this world nowadays, let them live in a world of faeries and Santas and rainbows with pots of gold as long as possible, the harsh realities of life will come all too soon.
