They may have done that thousands of years ago. They also had multiple wives, but today we have laws and morals and rapists are put in jail and women are not made to marry anyone they do not love.

Being a virgin is not a requirement to be a good person and women can fall in love and choose who they marry. So why go back too the time of some primitive society.
