The only way "undocumented" person could work is under the table, but their is also laws on that. If a company hires an undocumented worker they will get fined.
They can get jobs in their own country. They are forbidden to work in a country where they have broken the law. There is no valid argument in support of lawbreakers.

In fact, there should be no plausible argument at all supporting the undocumented students.

I don't think you understand- the LAW says that they aren't legally allowed to work. There's no counter-argument.
They could work, but only for someone willing to pay them cash under the table; thus, they would be condemned to low-paying, dead-end jobs.
