Joe got me into better music, he was my god and still is. Listening to his lyrics got me thinking lots, and he while reading up on him I've realized how great he was.
Nice songs :)
Lyrically I would say (White Man) in Hammersmith Palias, instrumental I like Career Opportunities. But those are just a few, I love so many of his songs.
Joe when he was with the 101'ers.

Well, thanks for this Punch for sharing as I like The Clash. Happy Birthday Joe the first round is on me....
I find that certain songs reflect what I was going through at certain times in my life. When I first became turned on to their songs, It was every teenager angst calling for the songs mentioned below. Today some of these songs may be considered pop/mainstream. Back then they were exactly what we needed and it fit our Rebellious attitude. Woo Hoo.
Should I stay or should I go now
Rock the Casbah
Train In Vain
London Calling
Of course there's a lot of great "off the beaten path" type songs of his and theirs but, these are the ones that most of us were used to hearing on radio. The Underground Clubs would play some of the other songs that didn't get a lot of radio play. A teenager of the early to mid eighties I was able to hear a lot of "firsts" back then. What a great time to get exposed to new and different music such as The Clash/Joe Strummer.
R.I.P. Joe you're still alive in our hearts...
Joe Strummer was and still is an inspiration in my life! I am so glad that I had the chance to see him with The Clash. It was one of the greatest shows I"ve ever seen. What made it even better was that Jimmy Cliff was the opening act.I also saw him with The Mescaleros and he was still amazing! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOE! R.I.P

Here's a good song about Joe by The Gaslight Anthem, a good young New Jersey band that has a lot of respect for its forebearers and expresses it in their music. Good take on Coma Girl/Last Gang in Town.

And speaking of Woody... Joe idolized Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. In honor of his musical lineage, here's a couple of dedications to Joe on his b-day:

Ballad of Frankie Lee & Judas Priest ~ Bob Dylan

I dedicate The Angel's Wanna Wear My Red Shoes by Elvis Costello. I think the song is kind of fitting for Joe.
As far as favorites go, I really loved everything he did with The Mescaleros. Very fine stuff indeed!
The Man was basically the messiah with a punk clothing, he taught so many people so much. he will always be missed, happy birthday and R.I.P Joe.
My favorite song lyricly would have to be Straight To Hell or Johnny Appleseed but as far as the actuall song goes, Koka Kola is the best. lyrically and musically a masterpiece, the only problem is that it's too short.
The Mad Hatter loves your question, Joe was a touch of class
and there were not many bands better then the Clash
the music will always be there for forever is mighty long
we take solice in the truth , that Joe will live on in song!
I was literally just talking about him and I didnt know it was his bday(Happy Bday, Joe!!!)

Oh joe, you are greatly missed.. and yes, that quote seems quite accurate. We all know Joe's up in heaven or some other dimension having the time of his life, speaking his mind.
What a great loss of talent.
I really enjoy listening to The Clash!
I love this song:
