my ex and I broke up last summer because things got physical and it was toxic on both our sides. I was living with him and quickly left because it was too painful to really discuss the break up and we were both so ridiculously emotional ending things, closure just couldn’t happen. Anyways, we go to school together and I’ve onlt seen him twice since we broke up not including graduation. First time at a bar he said hi and I just walked passed him because at that point I had reached out to him so many times and he didn’t respond to any of it so I didn’t think I should respond to him in person. Saw him again another time we walked passed each other and he took out his earbuds ready to say something but again, I just kept it moving. So at graduation I was at the very end to be called and not even looking on the court and I turn and he’s in line getting ready to be called over the speakers and staring RIGHT at me. I know it was at me because we were only three rows apart from each other and he didn’t stop staring at me once I noticed. He held my gaze for like 10 seconds before I had to look away because I was so uncomfortable. I sat back and tried to relax but then as his line moved forward and he was again in my line of vision, he turned his entire body and just stopped and stared me dead in the eyes. This time even longer than the first time and I guess I just want to know why. I got a random FaceTime from him a few months ago but other than that 0 contact other than in person.

So, what's your question? People rarely just 'turn it off'. If you've been that close to someone, they'll always have a place in your thoughts. If they or you don't, then it was a waste of time.
