Alfie saw a specialist vet last month as he had been treated for colitis by our usual vet who scanned him and did a blood test. All negative but I felt it was more than colitis. Prescribed antibiotics.I was told he has hcm also. He didn’t get better and deteriorated. The sp vet ran tests inc scan, colonoscopy and biopsies as he was convinced it was lymphoma. No cancer cells were found but severe IBD diagnosed. No treatment recommended unless he didn’t start eating and lost more weight. He rallied for a couple of days at home and ate more but then stopped again. So the usual vet started him on steroids etc.. he really isn’t at all well still. The sp vet wrote in the discharge letter about giving the chlorambucil but when I looked it up it sounds horrendous. Why would he give it to a cat who doesn’t have lymphoma?

Get another opinion from another vet.
I would get a second opinion from a different vet and see what they say.

TIME TO GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!!!
I could probably diagnosis the problem but not without a lot more information. If I was in your situation, I'd have NEVER gone back to this vet.
